Huskies prepping for high-powered foe

Huskies prepping for high-powered foe

It's hard to overlook Nick Rossi when discussing Riverside High School's high-powered offense, and the 6-foot-1, 234-pound Akron recruit is certainly a big part of the Vikings' effectiveness on that side of the ball from his fullback position.

Bishop Carroll football coach Craig Sponsky sees an even greater threat, though, when he watches film of the Vikings.

"The quarterback,'' Sponsky said of Riverside senior Corey Talerico, "is the go-to guy.

"Talerico is a phenomenal athlete. They do get the ball to Rossi. He's a monster. If they just had to run the ball, they wouldn't be so high-scoring. The quarterback makes a lot of things happen with his feet.''

Sponsky will try to find a way to slow down Talerico, Rossi and the Vikings Friday night when Carroll faces the 13-1 District 2 champions at Central Mountain High School's Malinak Stadium in Mill Hall. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Carroll is 11-2 after dispatching of Reading Holy Name,tagheuerreplica01 womenhandbags compact fluorescent light. 34-21, last week.

Riverside, though, cctv camera systems must satisfy budget constraints and meet required operating capabilities. is a very different animal than Holy Name. Where Holy Name used the ages-old wing T formation on offense, Vikings coach Harry Armstrong, a former quarterback at Riverside and then in college at Lafayette, has gone with the spread that has come into vogue in recent years. Riverside will come out in multiple formations with Rossi as the only running back.

The numbers speak for themselves. Riverside is 13-1. The Vikings average 36.9 points per game; they've scored at least 32 in all but three games.

Rossi said playing in the Vikings offense is a lot of fun.

"Our offense is very explosive. We have so many different formations, it's hard to prepare for,'' Rossi said.

"They want to get long touchdowns, quick touchdowns,tagheuerreplica1 totally free dating services with hundreds of thousands of online users.'' Sponsky said. Reversing the trend to spend

Reversing the trend to spend

A reporter once asked Thomas Edison how it felt to fail thousands of times while attempting to create a working incandescent light bulb. Edison replied that he hadn't failed - he'd simply found thousands of ways that didn't work.

That's worth keeping in mind as we assess the worth of President Obama's debt-reduction commission. Eleven of its 18 members voted in favor of the commission's final report. That means it didn't attract enough support to prompt action in Congress. Combine that vote tally with the fact that the report itself has won mixed reviews from both sides of the political aisle, and it may be tempting to dismiss the commission's work altogether.

But we shouldn't. Like Edison, we don't have a failure on our hands - at least,lacosteshoes123 not if we're willing to learn from this experience.

And learn from it we must. The debt problem the commission was charged with fixing is real, and it's getting worse. The national debt is set to double over the next decade because of out-of-control spending in Washington. The inevitable result, the Heritage Foundation's Brian Riedl assures us, is higher interest rates, deck lights slower economic growth and rising tax rates.

According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), President Obama's proposed budget for 2011 will add $10 trillion in debt over the next decade. By 2020, the federal government will owe $20 trillion, or $170,000 per American household. And that's not even counting underfunded obligations from Medicare and Social Security.

Plain and simple, we're on an unsustainable path. The sooner we take a sharp and sensible detour, the better. And that's where the debt commission's work comes in handy: Congress should learn from what it did wrong.

Its primary mistake: a tax-heavy approach. When you examine the federal budget closely, it's blindingly obvious that revenue isn't the problem. That cannot be overemphasized. We're not taking in too little in revenue.cctv surveillance camera We're spending too much - way, way too much. And we should tailor our solutions accordingly, cctv security camera i.e., with spending cuts.

How, to take one glaring example, could the debt commission ignore the trillions of dollars in new spending that will occur as a result of the president's health care plan? We need to repeal Obamacare, not allow it to take effect over the next few years and move our nation that much closer to insolvency.lacosteshoes521

Yet the commission that could see no evil in Obamacare's extravagance blithely recommended cuts in defense spending. We have underfunded buying the new equipment our men and women in uniform need by tens of millions of dollars for decades. Defense spending as a percentage of gross domestic product is actually near historic lows - about half what we averaged during the Cold War. And what could supersede national security? It's Job No. 1 for Congress, according to an underappreciated document known as the U.S. Constitution.

Family, friends and supporters cheered Monday night after the swearing-in of Mayor Joe Boles, footwear Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline and newly elected Commissioner Bill Leary at City Hall.

There was also a bit of sadness as the commissioners and city said goodbye to outgoing Commissioner Don Crichlow, who had declined to run again. Crichlow said he had tried to make decisions based on his feelings for the community,

"It's a wonderful place that I wanted to nurture, protect and preserve," he said. "I never felt I needed to change it. It's awfully nice the way it is right now."

He was presented with a heavy 8-inch section of the trolley track used on the Bridge of Lions from 1927 to 1930.

He said the city wants to sell more of those pieces to support the First America Foundation's work toward St. Augustine's 450th birthday celebration.

Sikes-Kline said Crichlow was "an anchor to me with his wisdom."

Boles joked that "ancient-ness brings with it wisdom, on occasion."

Commissioner Leanna Freeman presented him with a gold clock for his "generous service and vigorous commitment" as a commissioner.

Seventh District Circuit Judge J. Michael Traynor swore in Boles, Sikes-Kline and Leary.

Leary, who suffered a knee injury earlier that day, was in a wheelchair and was due to head for Flagler Hospital immediately after the ceremony.

Felon charged in Alton woman's death

A registered sex offender who has been in prison at least six times was charged today with the murder of a 73-year-old woman who was found dead in her bed on Friday.

Authorities say Perry L. Henderson attacked Sandra Wood, whose body was found dead in her home in the 1700 block of Central Avenue. He faces first-degree murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, home invasion, burglary and robbery charges. He was being held without bail.

Thomas Gibbons, in his second day as Madison County state's attorney, compact fluorescent light bulbs said prosecutors would consider all available sentencing recommendations, including the death penalty, if Henderson is convicted. She was strangled, according to the charges against Henderson. Alton Police Department Chief of Detectives Scott Golike said police believe the crimes happened late Thursday. There was no sign of forced entry but police believe the house was not secured.

Larson said Wood led the Sierra Club-sponsored full-moon hikes at the Nature Institute in Godfrey for many years and as recently as about two months ago. He said she was constantly active with one project or another.

“This organ donor recognition ceremony comes amid great loss and grief,” said Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline Chaplain Donna Dickerson. “What you have chosen to do today will be a shining tribute to the community your loved one served.”

Wagner was hired at the department in January 1980 and promoted to captain in 1987. He has been the only full time investigator for eight years, having sifted through charred remains of more than 2,400 fires, officials said.

About 75 of the fire department’s about 435 employees stood silently as Wagner’s firefighter wife, Capt. Angela Williams, cupped her hands over her face to watch an organ donor flag raised in his name. She then comforted a son and two daughters as a donor appreciation medal was presented to them by Reynaldo Orozco, family service coordinator for Southwest Transplant Alliance.

Fire Marshal Andy Cardiel said he will miss the early morning greeting from Wagner: “It’s on chief, strong and hot, the way you like,lacosteshoes00” as coffee brewed.

Minnesota's last recount

Minnesota's last recount

Minnesota's last recount, which began in 2008, was truly epic. Al Franken became the state's junior senator in July 2009, an extraordinary eight months after election day.lacosteshoes123 are extensively appreciated and acclaimed that it is scarcely surprising that they have become famous and distinguished from people of all walks of life This year's recount will determine who will be Minnesota's next governor.jerseys Watches sell at lowest prices. Whereas only a few hundred votes separated Franken and his rival, Norm Coleman, this year Mark Dayton is ahead of Tom Emmer by almost 9,000 votes. No sensible observer thinks that Emmer will win. But why let that get in the way of a good recount?

Minnesota is not the only state with an election in question. In Alaska, an ugly fight is still playing out between Lisa Murkowski, the incumbent, and Joe Miller, who beat Murkowski in the Republican primary.Happysunglasses sell exclusive american lighting and ray ban sunglasses online. Murkowski looks set to become the first senator elected by write-in ballots for 56 years. But a lawsuit from Miller may bring months of acrimony.

Minnesotans, in contrast, are conducting their recount with the cool that comes with expertise. Their election rules, already robust in 2008, were strengthened after that year's fight. The process for counting absentee ballots was streamlined. Guidelines for determining a voter's intent in the case of ballots that were filled in badly became even more explicit. Legislators also considered changing the threshold for an automatic recount, from a margin of victory of 0.We supplies replica compact fluorescent light bulb with high quality and lowest prices.5 percent of votes cast to a margin of only 0.25 percent.
