Tom Davidson has seen a lot of history

Tom Davidson has seen a lot of history being made in the area between Haines City and Winter Haven. That's because his family opened a gift shop in the late 1960s at a time when a nearby theme park was still riding high and bringing plenty of cars to U.S. 27.

"When the business was opening in 1967, Cypress Gardens was in its heyday,D&G Watches blend high fashion with reliability and quality," said Davidson, who runs the Davidson of Dundee gift shop, known for its honeybells and other citrus products. Davidson remembers how his gift shop benefited from the popularity of Cypress Gardens.

"They were going pretty strong in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s," he said.Shop online for Emporio Armani Watches from Ernest Jones, "They were bringing in 600,000 or more visitors a year. They were bringing some good traffic along here. We had some pretty good traffic volume on (U.Concord Watches for everyday discount prices on Overstock .S.) 27 back then."

The 1960s and 1970s,Replica Ferrari Watches are available wholesale and retail online . he added, were also a time when Polk County reigned supreme as the citrus-producing capital.

Times have changed. Today, Cypress Gardens is closed down and has been for several years, while, as Davidson noted, Brazil has become a major competitor as a producer of orange juice.

"We've also lost a lot of citrus groves for homes built in Shop for Chronoswiss Watches online at Wingate's Watches.the area," Davidson said.

That's brought economic challenges to businesses along U.S. 27 in the Haines City/Lake Hamilton/Dundee area. It doesn't help, Davidson added, that Dundee's town leaders have been resistant to growth in past decades, making it harder for local businesses to find the customers they need to expand and grow.
