Huskies prepping for high-powered foe

It's hard to overlook Nick Rossi when discussing Riverside High School's high-powered offense, and the 6-foot-1, 234-pound Akron recruit is certainly a big part of the Vikings' effectiveness on that side of the ball from his fullback position.

Bishop Carroll football coach Craig Sponsky sees an even greater threat, though, when he watches film of the Vikings.

"The quarterback,'' Sponsky said of Riverside senior Corey Talerico, "is the go-to guy.

"Talerico is a phenomenal athlete. They do get the ball to Rossi. He's a monster. If they just had to run the ball, they wouldn't be so high-scoring. The quarterback makes a lot of things happen with his feet.''

Sponsky will try to find a way to slow down Talerico, Rossi and the Vikings Friday night when Carroll faces the 13-1 District 2 champions at Central Mountain High School's Malinak Stadium in Mill Hall. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Carroll is 11-2 after dispatching of Reading Holy Name,tagheuerreplica01 womenhandbags compact fluorescent light. 34-21, last week.

Riverside, though, cctv camera systems must satisfy budget constraints and meet required operating capabilities. is a very different animal than Holy Name. Where Holy Name used the ages-old wing T formation on offense, Vikings coach Harry Armstrong, a former quarterback at Riverside and then in college at Lafayette, has gone with the spread that has come into vogue in recent years. Riverside will come out in multiple formations with Rossi as the only running back.

The numbers speak for themselves. Riverside is 13-1. The Vikings average 36.9 points per game; they've scored at least 32 in all but three games.

Rossi said playing in the Vikings offense is a lot of fun.

"Our offense is very explosive. We have so many different formations, it's hard to prepare for,'' Rossi said.

Tight end Skyler Lavage leads the receiving corps with 46 catches; four Vikings have at least 10 receptions.

"They want to get long touchdowns, quick touchdowns,tagheuerreplica1 totally free dating services with hundreds of thousands of online users.'' Sponsky said.
