Family first for golden boy
BUNDABERG will have to wait a while to congratulate new Commonwealth Games hero Allan Davis personally as he has returned to his Spanish base until the end of next month.
Fresh from his stunning Gold medal-winning ride in the men's road race on Sunday night, the 30-year-old packed his bags and headed to his second home and he was glad to be back with his wife Andrea and two young children.
He was also keen to show them his bronze medal from the World Road Championships in Geelong a week earlier.
Davis,Breitling Watches who claimed bronze in the event at the 2006 Games, could savour a week that dreams are made of and said that he was proud to wear the Green and Gold.
But he also said he wouldn't be there without his team-mates, especially Chris Sutton who finished fifth after putting him in a perfect position to win a four-man sprint to the line.
“It would have been nice to come home to Bundy now, but my kids are at school in Spain and at the ages of eight and four, their schooling is very important,” Davis said.
He is looking forward to a rest.
“That's it for the season but I will still race in the big Bundy Cup on Wheels in December and it will be great to catch up with everyone,TAG HEUER REPLICArelojes imitacion” he said.
Davis' father Greg had been on hand for his world championship heroics, but he did not make the trip to Delhi, and he and his wife Debbie and other children Scott and Amanda were all glued to the television at the family home as the race unfolded.
Debbie said their neighbours also came over, and that they were all a “bit nervous”.
“We were not overly confident as the race panned out but we knew that they were riding as a team and if he could get up there,replica tag Heuer he would be a show,” Debbie said.
“Chris Sutton was in the leading three and we knew Allan wouldn't carry the others up there but once he made the break and went across, we knew he had a chance.
