Allikats On Kent owner Andrew Duggan said up to a metre of water had flowed into some Kent Street shops and two council workers set up a pump to pipe the water from a flooded car park on Adelaide Street to alleviate the problem.
The water was pumped past a flood barricade erected on Adelaide Street on Saturday afternoon and into an area near the Woolworths car park on the other side of the street.
The water was about a metre from the top of the flooded Woolworths car park at 8am yesterday and the intersection of Lennox and Sussex streets was also underwater.

He said earlier in the day all the important goods had been moved out and they had sandbagged the floor drains to stop water gurgling up into the restaurant.
“We've got to hope that it doesn't rain too heavy too fast because it'll overwhelm the pumps,” Mr Rovere said.
