Riders snap losing streak

The Saskatchewan Roughriders snapped out of a four-game funk just in time for the playoffs.juicycouturesuit lovekillsslowly wholesalersblog.

The Riders ended a four-game losing streak on Saturday by beating the Edmonton Eskimos 31-23 at Mosaic Stadium before an announced crowd of 30,048. The win eliminated the Eskimos from the playoffs and vaulted the B.C. Lions into Sunday's West Division semifinal at Mosaic Stadium.

"Ending the streak was more important than beating a rival for us,'' said Riders quarterback Darian Durant. "Losing four in a row is tough. Going into the playoffs, you want to go in on a winning note. We did that tonight.''

The win also improved the mood in the Riders' locker room, which had been become sombre as the losses mounted. On Saturday, the music was blasting and there were smiles on the faces of each player.

"It feels so good to get back on the winning side,'' offensive tackle Dan Goodspeed said after the Riders finished the regular season at 10-8-0. "The last few weeks have been tough and there is a little pressure released. Now we have a win going into the playoffs.''

The Eskimos needed a win more than the Riders. The Lions boosted their record to 8-10-0 while Edmonton fell to 7-11-0.

"We knocked one team out of the playoffs and we have three more to go,'' said Saskatchewan slotback Andy Fantuz,What Dubai is facing currently is very similar to what a lot of other countries have faced, computerpartsuppliers. who had five receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown.

The Riders then scored on their opening possession of the second half after a one-yard run by tailback Wes Cates. Fantuz hauled in a 27-yard touchdown pass from Durant on the Riders' next offensive possession. The Riders scored 16 unanswered points in the third quarter to grab a 31-16 lead.

"It was huge to score before the half,'' said Durant, who was 26 of 38 for 345 yards with one touchdown and didn't commit a turnover. "Especially going into the half when you know that you're going to get the ball back at the start of the second half. It was a 14-point swing for us.''

Saturday's win in the final game of the regular season was the Riders' first victory since they beat the Toronto Argonauts 27-16 at the Rogers Centre on Oct. 2. The win may ease some of the scrutiny the Riders have been under since losing four in a row.

"There is a certain amount of weight off my shoulders,'' said Riders head coach Ken Miller. "There is a sense of relief that the team played really well and the way it's capable of playing.''
